- Parent TV - The Role Of Grandparents In Parenting: Nurturing Intergenerational Relationships
This week, we say farewell to Fr Francis, who has been part of our school community for the past nine years, originally as the Assistant Priest and then, for the past six years, as the Parish Priest.
His willingness to support the school, our students and our families has been a hallmark of his time at St Simon Peter. Father's homilies are always extremely well composed, thought out and expertly delivered. He has a wonderful way of talking to our students and bringing Jesus into their lives in a way that is doable for each student. Father is certainly a friend of St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School and has supported the school during his time in his parish post.
We thank him for his service over the past nine years and wish him all the best for his move to Nollamara next week.
This week also marks the end of Mrs Saville's time as Acting Assistant Principal. We truly appreciate her willingness to step up to this role, whilst Miss Green was away on the long service leave, and to Mrs Duncan who has taken on the classroom role in 6M during the secondment.
Thank you also to Mrs Lenaghan who finishes her time in 2B, but will be continuing to teach in the school in the Junior Science learning area for the remainder of the year.
It has been such a busy term and with our Learning Journeys on Tuesday night and Grandparents’ Day tomorrow, is such a great way to both finish off and highlight the learning undertaken during Term 3.
Enjoy the well-earned break and we will see you all when Term 4 commences on Tuesday 10th October.
Warm regards
Peter Cutrona
Principal
We had our Learning Journey’s on Tuesday afternoon. This is such a wonderful community event, and we had a buzz around the school which was great. The students loved sharing all their hard work with their parents.
The teachers did a wonderful job of displaying the students' work in a way that they could show off how hard they had worked throughout the year. Well done teachers.
A big thank you to Julie Sontay and her helpers who organised a sausage sizzle to raise money for our sister school in Bali.
Below are some photos of the afternoon.
Last Friday almost 650 of our students competed in the annual Athletics Carnival. Vincent House won the Athletics Shield for the first time in many years, after a day of close competition and a term of preparation. Congratulations to all the students who behaved so well on the day and competed in a very sportsmanlike way!
Athletic Champion and Runners Up medals were awarded at the end of the day to students in Years 3 to 6. These were based on athletic events conducted during PE classes and the results of the sprint races on Friday. Congratulations to the students who received these medals. Their names are listed below for all to see along with a final points tally.

Following mass, grandparents are invited over to the school to visit classrooms and enjoy a morning tea in the hall. The morning tea is for grandparents and parents to enjoy. Adults are asked to bring their own cup for morning tea, if possible.
Students will be eating their normal recess at the break time, but you are welcome to collect your grandchild/ren for them to join you in the hall. Adults are asked to please take children back to their classrooms at the end.
These celebrations will conclude at recess time (10:50am)
