THREE YEAR OLD KINDY PROGRAM

Three_Year_Old.jpg

Our Three Year Old Kindy program is designed as an introduction and stepping stone into a child's schooling years. Our program is a teacher led, play-based, program that implements the Early Years Learning Framework, as we understand that children learn best through play.

The program provides children with meaningful experiences to develop a love of learning and further develop their social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development. Our program has a strong focus on early literacy, language development and social skills.

The program operates five days per week, with families selecting the number of days their child attends. Just like at school, the program runs term time only. Vacation care is available for families who need all year-round care, through our Long Day Care program.

The daily session runs from 9.00am to 2.30pm, with families having the option of their child attending for the session only, or booking in for a full day, from 7.00am to 6.00pm, if needing extended care.

Our program is open for children who have turned three, or children who are turning three before the 30th of June in the year before they attend Four Year Old Kindy.

ENROLMENT

Our Three Year Old Kindy enrolments open in the September the year before children are to attend. Children attend in the year before attending Four Year Old Kindy and must turn three before the 30th of June that year. Families can complete an Expression of Interest Form at any time and will be notified of tour dates, orientation dates and enrolment deadlines.  To enrol your child, you must have already accepted a position for your child's enrolment at St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School for Four Year Old Kindy.

Prior to commencing in our Early Learning Centre, you will receive an enrolment pack. This includes all the necessary paperwork required by the Service.
You will be required to complete and sign an Enrolment Form and to provide the required supporting documents. The details required on the Enrolment Form are needed by our Educators to help them take the best possible care of your child. It is also a legal licensing requirement. All information is strictly confidential.

ORIENTATION

Starting a child's Early Learning journey is a big step for both the child and the parents. To help make the transition as smooth as possible, we offer orientation sessions, where children and families stay and play. This allows you and your child to build relationships with our Educators, learn about our programs and explore the environments. For children starting at the beginning of the school year, orientation will be offered to all families and children in December. For children starting during the year, families and children will be offered two Stay and Play sessions, of a minimum of one hour each.

Attending orientation sessions helps to support children, enabling them to feel a sense of security, so they are ready for their first day.

The first session is for one hour, with the parent or guardian staying for the duration. During this session, you will get to know the Educators, learn how the program runs, get to know the routine of the room and provides the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. It is also a great chance to let Educators know all about your child and their own routines. The last orientation session (is also one hour long) with the parent or guardian leaving the Service for the hour. This gives you and your child a better understanding of what it will be like to attend care on a day-to-day basis, without a parent or guardian present.

We are always happy to offer additional sessions for children needing a longer period to transition.

FEES

Our fees are reviewed on an annual basis by our Finance Committee and based on a Not-for-Profit Structure. All our programs are approved for Child Care Subsidy to support families with the cost of care.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is calculated using:

  • Your combined family income,
  • The level of ‘activity’, and
  • The Service’s hourly rate.

A broad range of activities will meet the activity test requirements, including paid work, being self-employed, doing unpaid work in the family business, studying and volunteering.

Families with more than one child, aged five or under, in care can access a higher CCS rate. CCS is paid directly to the Service and applied to your fees. Families are then required to pay the gap fee.
