At St Simon Peter Catholic Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.

Catholic Education WA (CEWA) Executive Directive Child Safety and Wellbeing  Item 6.1 states

The Deputy Executive Director and the Principal must induct staff, CECWA members, regular volunteers, and contractors in their responsibilities appropriate to their role, and conduct regular professional development to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of students. Student Safety and Wellbeing ED

To support this, all staff, Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) members, regular volunteers, and contractors are required to complete an induction that outlines their responsibilities in keeping children safe. This induction is tailored to each person’s role within the school community.

In addition, annual professional development and training is provided to ensure everyone involved in our school continues to uphold the highest standards of child safety and wellbeing.

This is part of our commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where all students can thrive.

The school will contact you regarding both the initial training and the annual followup once you have logged in as a volunteer. Alternatively, you can send an email to admin@ssp.wa.edu.au with the following subject CEWA CHILD PROTECTION PROCEDURES TRAINING FOR REGULAR VOLUNTEERS and Include your full name and the name of your eldest child at SSP in the body of the email.

Once we receive your email, we’ll register you for the training and send you a link via the Claned platform. The training link will remain active for 30 days.

As always, if you have any questions then please contact our school admin staff who will be more than happy to help you with your query.
